Hi, I'm Aimee D - your next go-to sitter

Hi​,​ I’m Aimee – and I’d love to be your go-to sitter. I’ve been babysitting for a few years now – including caring for a newborn and a two-year-old over a two-year period​,​ sometimes for up to two weeks at a time. I’ve also looked after an 8-year-old girl with a mild learning disability​,​ where part of my role was helping her with reading and schoolwork​,​ which I really enjoyed. I think what makes me different is why I do this. When I was little​,​ I missed out on a lot. I spent a lot of time alone​,​ and I promised myself that one day​,​ I’d help create better experiences for other kids. Babysitting brings me a real sense of peace and joy – I love being someone children can trust​,​ play with​,​ learn from​,​ and just feel safe around. I’ve completed my Plunket Babysitting Certification and I’ve always been active in my community. I completed all levels of Girl Guiding​,​ earned my Queen’s Guide Award​,​ and even stepped into a leadership role for a year. It had its ups and downs​,​ but it taught me so much about patience​,​ responsibility​,​ and showing up for others. Also – I love dogs! I’ve done some dog training classes for fun​,​ so if you’ve got a furry friend at home too​,​ that’s a bonus for me.
